As the party sets off on the Eastern Road with Yon Vanderwild traveling to the Wilderness to search for a lost item in an ancient ruin deep in the dangerous wilderness surrounding the Nation of Catal the party chit chats with one another, getting to know each other and their temporary companion Yon. As they travel along the road during the nice summer day they pass by Lake Fresno, while Yon explains the history of the lake and how it is the largest fresh water lake known in the nations, continuing to explain that an ancient Triton tribe protects something at the bottom of the lake, or so rumor holds. Mostly it supplies the resourceful nation with fresh fish. The lake goes on for miles appearing as large as many seas. As they continue traveling they come across a few caravans and groups of friendly individuals heading to Boulder for the Festival, having not yet heard the news. Eventually Yon and Spades hear someone yelling for help on the edge of the road ahead, and run to their aid seeing a small Haregon drowning out in the lake 50-60 feet out. A boat seemed to be 20-30feet from the child and a small hut sat at the edge of the lakes shoreline, where a female Haregon comes out screaming for someone to help her baby.
TBD jumped to action Muk had Marvin throw him off his back to launch him further into the lake but failed miserably slamming Muk into the end of the dock. Baelon tried to teleport the child onto shore but the spell failed and Baelon’s wild magic instead summoned Flumps all around him….Bertold not a big swimmer, sat on shore…waiting. Raul picked Muk up and tried to throw him but Muk hadnt been expecting it and slipped from Rauls grasp falling 5 feet into the water. Argento went to the shore as well waiting to see if he could help in some way. Spades went next to Marvin ready to swim to the child. Just as the party was screwing up a simple rescue job several Haregon’s came out of the house tattered in clothing and rusty weapons…it was a trap.
Demanding Gold these reavers looked desperate and when the party refused to give their gold up to a legion of rabbit folk they attacked. Muk and Spades swimming out to the child ran into their own trouble with Triton guardians swarming them from the deep. Baelon had the Flumps use their telekinisis to calm the child and let Bealon Teleport him to shore…but when he reached shore he pointed back at the point yelling father…as the rest of the party disbatched the bandits. Finally fending off the Tritons, Muk, Spades, and Marvin recovered the body of an older Haregon…appearing to be dead. Marvin used his unicorn magic to teleport them back to shore where Spades used his arcane gifts of Ogmah to heal the wretch, reuniting this small family that had been used as bait by the bandits. They thanked TBD but being refugees themselves could not pay the party but with the clothing on their backs. The Party understood.
The party pressed on their travels, eventually camping out for the evening. During this nice summer night they each relaxed Baelon crafting a Scroll, Raul drank his sorrows, others reading their newly acquired books. However, while on watch Argento and Bertold saw a lady come from the water who talked to both of them telekinetically, this deity or sprite announced her self as Umberlee, an evil sea godness but only tempted them to enter the water, the boys resisted the Lake Mommy. From there the party rested easy awaking to a nice quit day on the road. They did however run into the Empires Warriors, an elite unite dedicated to keeping the peace on the roads but the fellows they ran into seemed rather pleasant if not a tad intimidating in their adorned platemail, the warriors mentioned they were heading to Boulder to help out in the rumors of chaos and murder. Back on the road the party finally reached their next resting point with little obstructions. Where Yon mentioned that he would b leaving in a different direction, North to his people but he wished to share one last meal with the party, which they did. The party had a quit night once again in the peaceful nation of Catal, with their new friend Yon…saying their last goodbyes to him before proceeding to the small village Olera on the border of the wilderness.
