The Party awoke inside the dead, Lord Mendas’ castle whey they took the night to rest up before heading out on they rjourney in the unpredictable wilderness to retrieve an arcane artifact for the Wu-Ton-Clan. Yon Vanderwild, came and talked with the group to wake them up and greet them a good morning. He informed them they he could only give them 12gp for the job at Haggen Farms and that they could take whatever they needed from the Castles Stores of food and rations. He went on to mention that the local guard caught you all coming in last night and Tact Haelstrom, the captain of the guard would like to have a word with the group members about Lord Mendas. Making a point to mention that they were not in trouble but the captain of the guard was simply doing his due diligence.
The Party agreed but and they stocked up on several rations and established a plan before heading to the Guard post. Spades, Baelon, Marvin and Muk decided to head to the Library. Bertold, Raul, and Argento were going to go around town looking for some quick coin doing street magic.
After the parties brief errands they headed to the Guard post to talk with the Loxodon Guard Captain Tact Haelstrom. As they approached the heavily fortified posting, an old friend of Argento’s from his days on the guard greeted them. One Jive McConnell made sure to tell the party to follow the protocol and check their weapons.
As the party headed into the barracks, Tact had his desk pretty much cleaned out because he was ready to retire, which he should have done the day prior. Tact asked the party what TBD mean and the answer he got was, “The Bone Daddies”. After hearing that Tact said he was going to question each member individually.
Each member was asked: What did the party do to get Lord Mendas’ attention? Why did Lord Mendas make them an Advenduring Group? And Where were they the night of the murder?
Raul, Baelon, Muk, Argento, Spades, and finally Bertold each answered questions by the good captain, and gave acceptable answers if not odd. Following the one on one conversations he concluded that TBD was not involved with the murder of Mendas and that they were simply bystanders in the event.
While the party wrapped up their conversation with Tact, Athoreus Diary and Nadia Scandali, leaders of the Wu-Ton entered the post with a fresh backed pie. Athoreus gave Tact the pie as a gift for his retirement and say that he had the leader of the Shades, the man guilty for the murder right outside in custody for him!
Everyone stormed outside of the guard post to see Shade, the leader of a gang called the shades was tied up being held by a couple of Wu-Ton Clan guards. Athoreus said he confessed to everything and after Tact asked some questions this seemed to be true enough for Tact. During this interaction Muk spoke a hair of thieves can’t to the leader to se if there was a reaction.
Tact scheduled an execution that very afternoon of Shade. The party was relieved and let go to finish up anything in the city. They ran into Yon near the castle who asked to come with them to the crossroads as he had no place in Boulder with the Mendas Line gone. The party agreed to have him join in their travel until they reached the cross roads.
As the party wrapped up their errands around town, they heard the commotion of the execution happening and decided to go and witness this…Arriving at the square, there was hundreds of people there all shouting and cheering that the murderer was found and they could finally continue the festival and have some peace of mind. Also there was scaffolding setup with a guillotine setup with Amarra standing by with her black lighting glaive, wearing a black hood around the top of her head.
The party split up in the crowd to see if anything strange was happening. As Amarra pu her mask down to do the execution, a mask wearing figure appeared in front of Muk in the crowd, pulling down his mask to reveal he is the real shade and gave Much a note, and just as fast as he appeared he vanished through the crowd. As Shade disappeared Amarra swung down her glaive and the figure in the stocks yelled, “DOWN WITH THE ROYALS” as their face reverted to nothing and the head chopped clean off…Tact and Athoreus looking shocked…
